Morning With Jesus

Routine offers a strange comfort. We settle into familiar patterns, take the same roads, and keep our faith neatly arranged within the boundaries we know. Yet sometimes a quiet stirring rises within us, a gentle nudge that whispers something needs to shift. We live at a hurried pace, surrounded by screens, schedules, and endless to-do lists. Our days fill quickly with noise, and somewhere in the rush, we forget to simply look up. We read about parted seas and healed bodies, then close the Bible and return to a world that feels stubbornly ordinary. Somewhere along the way, we settled for believing in God's power without truly expecting Him to display it in our own lives. We nod at the stories but rarely dare to pray as though the same God still moves today. Giving away our resources often feels completely counterintuitive. We naturally want to hold tightly to what we have, building a comfortable safety net for the unknown days ahead. Yet, Jesus invites us to view our earthly possessions through a radically different lens. When He watched the poor widow drop two small coins into the temple offering, He did not measure the monetary value of her gift. Instead, He measured the immense size of her sacrifice. True sacrificial giving means offering something that actually costs us a measure of comfort. It moves beyond simply giving from our leftover abundance and steps into a space where our generosity requires deep, genuine faith.

We live in a culture that often prizes youth, quick answers, and fast-paced innovation. It feels incredibly easy to rush past the slower, steadier voices of those who walked the path long before us. Yet, when we ignore the older generations, we miss out on a massive reservoir of tested wisdom. Our elders survived seasons of deep hardship, raised families through difficult decades, and watched their faith grow strong through countless trials. They hold a unique perspective that only time and experience can build. They understand exactly how to weather a severe storm because they have already crossed those troubled waters.

We all encounter people who simply rub us the wrong way. Perhaps it is a coworker who constantly complains, a neighbor who acts unkindly, or even a family member who easily frustrates you. Our natural human instinct tells us to pull away, put up a wall, and harbor quiet resentment. It feels incredibly difficult to extend warmth to someone who causes us daily stress. Yet, Jesus invites us into a profoundly different way of living. He challenges us to love the unlovable and to actively pray for those we find difficult to endure.
