Morning With Jesus

Society often treats rules as flexible guidelines, encouraging us to follow our own hearts instead of a higher authority. We live in a culture that highly values personal preference over absolute truth. Because of this mindset, we might look at the Ten Commandments and silently wonder if they still apply to our modern lives. It feels incredibly easy to pick and choose the specific instructions that comfortably fit our current lifestyle. We sometimes treat God's holy words like items on a restaurant menu, taking what we like and leaving the rest behind. When we view these ancient commands as mere suggestions, we slowly drift away from the secure boundaries our Creator established for our ultimate good.

Moses was just minding his own business, tending sheep in a quiet and dusty desert. It felt like an entirely ordinary day until he noticed something completely out of place—a bush on fire that simply did not burn away. God used this miraculous, strange sight to interrupt a daily routine and call Moses into a profound, life-changing purpose. We often go through our own days strictly focused on our regular tasks, checking off lists, and walking familiar paths. Yet, our Heavenly Father still actively seeks to capture our attention. He regularly places unique, quiet moments in our daily paths to draw us intimately closer to His steady presence.

Parents naturally want their children to have the absolute best. We work tirelessly to provide nice clothes, fun toys, and great opportunities. We desperately want to shield them from the difficult struggles we faced growing up. While this deep desire comes from a place of pure love, we can easily fall into the trap of confusing material blessings with true fulfillment. We fill their bedrooms with physical items that eventually break or quickly lose their appeal. In our rush to give them everything the world offers, we sometimes forget that the most valuable gifts we can hand down cost absolutely no money at all.

Look up at a quiet night sky or stand before a sprawling ocean, and it feels incredibly easy to feel small. When we witness the massive beauty of the world around us, the very first words of Scripture anchor us to a profound truth. Before the mountains stood tall and before the oceans rushed to the shore, God was already there. He serves as the ultimate foundation of all things. He spoke the entire universe into existence, crafting billions of galaxies with a single breath. When we deeply recognize God as the majestic Creator, we begin to understand that absolutely nothing in our lives happens by accident. 

Living a Christ-centered life often feels like swimming against a powerful current. The world constantly invites us onto a wide, comfortable road filled with easy choices, quick fixes, and popular opinions. It takes very little effort to simply follow the crowd. Yet, Jesus calls us to step onto a remarkably different path. The narrow road requires intentional steps, deep focus, and a willingness to stand apart from the surrounding culture. It asks us to choose quiet humility over loud pride, to offer genuine grace when anger feels justified, and to seek God's truth above our own temporary comfort.

We often approach our relationship with God through a lens of complicated logic and heavy burdens. We try to earn our place, figure out every detail, and carry the weight of the world on our tired shoulders. Yet, when Jesus walked the earth, He deeply valued the simple, genuine nature of kids. While His disciples tried to push the young ones away, thinking the Master was too busy for their noise and interruptions, Jesus opened His arms wide. He saw their pure hearts and used them as the ultimate example of how we should approach our Heavenly Father. He made it clear that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who carry exactly this kind of trusting spirit.

Walking into a quiet house after years of beautiful chaos can feel deeply overwhelming. The sudden silence often highlights the reality that your children have grown and moved on to their own daily adventures. You spent decades pouring your heart, time, and endless energy into raising them. Now, you might look at the tidy bedrooms and wonder what your daily purpose looks like. It is completely natural to grieve the closing of this busy chapter, but we must also remember that God holds every season of our lives securely in His faithful hands.

Every long-distance runner understands the heavy wall of exhaustion that hits miles into a race. Your legs feel like lead, your lungs ache, and your mind begs you to simply stop and rest. Our spiritual journey often mimics this exact physical struggle. We usually start our walk with Christ full of intense energy and bright passion. Over time, heavy burdens, daily distractions, and difficult seasons threaten to drain our endurance. We stumble over unexpected obstacles and wonder if we have enough strength left to reach the end.
